the big reveal!

Well we have an announcement! this time it is what you think :)

Dave and I are going to be parents~how scary is that?
As we are only 9 weeks in of 40 ... we let this out of the bag a bit early. There were a couple of reasons for this.

First is that my parents were leaving for Europe and I wanted them to know before they left. The other reason is because all our Lenoir friends were getting together and it was a good time to tell them all at once.

we had a lot of fun with this. One of my friends C knew that we were expecting- since she is a midwife - I told her first. She encouraged me to tell at Family Fun Night. We also decided on a way to tell everyone and see who caught on!

We went shopping at Goodwill. Did you know how hard it is to find t-shirts that mention pregnancy on them? I did find one that had two doves holding a ribbon that said "delivering cuteness".

I wore this on the Family Fun Night. I ended up spilling on it right at the beginning - and was washing it off (not on purpose!) so a few people noticed then but most kept their mouth shut to wait for others responses. (a few of them had an idea that I was pregnant already so it wasn't much of a stretch)

But the person that I was waiting to hear her response took the longest! Finally D (5 months preggo) called her over and had her read my shirt and pay attention.... it was a great response! lots of sequels and hugs etc... from that point on everyone could talk about it.

I never heard this before as a way to tell people that you are pregnant- but Dave told his coworker that he "had Forked". for the geeks out there - they would understand. I didnt but his coworker did and lit up! apparently its some computer process that involves making a copy of program and then splitting it (or something.)

Well MC had a fun time telling people who came late to the party to go ready my shirt.
I even had the offer of going and shopping at a persons house that is not planning on having anymore kids :)

It was a great night.

We had called our Family to let them know that afternoon. Dave did use the line to Mom D : " yeah, we have news..... Debbie's sick.....she has the Egyptian Flu...." Dave's mom caught on quick cuz his Dad used that a lot. She said "shes going to be a MOMMY!!!"
tons of excitement for us.

We also emailed our closer friends and they also had fun with telling others. R&C got married in Oct. A keeps asking them when they are going to have a kid. so they took the photo I sent out and put it on the computer as the background wall paper. They were going to get her to check her email - and then see the photo up. I haven't heard the full story yet- but I see from the facebook status' that they played a great trick and got A good!

so this is for everyone that reads my blog:
Im 9 weeks of 40
I dont have morning sickness except when I take my vitamins
Due date is Oct 7
I havent seen a Dr yet as we are still working on SSN and insurance...
and we dont want to know the sex until its born

please pray that everything works out well for us and baby.

from a friend

In a valentines Church service this was used:

True love was defined as finding your lover as gorgeous as Brad Pitt, as funny as Jay Leno, as pure as Pope John Paul, as athletic as Shaquille O'Neal, and as smart as Albert Einstein; only to soon discover that he is as gorgeous as Jay Leno, as funny as Pope John Paul, as smart as Shaquille O'Neal, and as athletic as Albert Einstein, and in no category resembling Brad Pitt, but you love him anyway!

looking forward!

Well its not even Valentines day and I already received my present!

Dave got me "comfort".

How does that work you ask?

well we just painted and moved our office into the basement. The basement that is not heated very well. So sitting down here is very cold for long periods of time.

So Dave used this problem to buy me comfort. He bought a mini heater and a throw blanket for me :)

Im happy with it... he might get cold sitting at his desk over there ----->

I am also excited about so many other things right now as well!

On the 20th of this month Im off to see KC. She is the friend that I made in Belgium with 3 kids. Her husband is stationed there but is in the states (Norfolk, VA)for 3 months.

We arrive back home on the 22 and then Justin is coming here!!!!
Justin is Dave Best Man from our wedding. He will be our first friend coming to visit us :)

who knows what other exciting things will happen!
Keep an eye on the blog for any more exciting news...

(i may even have friends up for our thanksgiving in Nov)

we bought it...

We did it. We bought the car that we have been driving for 5 weeks from the Rental company.

Did you know Enterprise sold cars? and if you buy from enterprise- let them know we told you to go there. (we get $200 for every referral!)

shameless plug aside- its a great way to do it. They offer a 7 day trial of the car, one year roadside assistance from AAA and other things. Oh and they sell under Kelley Blue Book Value so you dont have to deal with haggling. http://www.enterprisecarsales.com/carsales/home.do

We got our car almost $3000 under what similar cars were selling at car lots and dealers.
WE cannot complain about that!

So what did we buy?

its a 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser. It has just over 25000 miles on it. Its Vanilla white. So its not pure white- it has a bit of colour in it.

we are very happy with it and look forward to much driving with it!

My dad asked for a car that traveled to Dunnville more often- Im not sure how that would work- but we are talking it over :P

cars, cars, cars, everywhere cars

Well we went looking for cars yesterday.

We saw so many that I almost cant remember where each one was at.

We came across only one sleazy car salesman and have decided to NOT buy from them. We didnt like the pushiness- so they lost a sale!

most of the car dealers just let us take the cars and most didnt take our licenses at all! We had two salesmen drive with us.

It was a good day overall and I think I could have gone a bit longer but Dave was done with it!

We were looking for used cars so we went to different lots and saw all kinds! So here is a list of cars that we looked at.

- Chrysler PT Cruiser
- Jeep Liberty
- Honda Element
- Honda 5
- Kia Rondo
- Jeep Compas
- Chrysler Pacifica
- Chevrolet HHR

We ruled most of them out for a variety of reasons. I liked the bigger ones but Dave didnt. Some just felt weird to drive or uncomfortable.

I think we came up with the PT Cruiser in the end. We now have to wait for our insurance check as well as deciding where to get the one we want. Almost every dealer has a PT on the lot. We also will be calling Enterprise to see what they have available and the prices.

Dave kinda wants to buy the on we have been renting since we are familiar with it and so far so good.

wish us luck!

well our car is a write off

I had posted about our car accident a month ago and the insurance company just wrote off our car this past week.

It turns out that Canadian airbags are much more expensive then American ones.

The insurance adjuster that came at the beginning was apparently new and did not leave enough room for error when he said go ahead and get it fixed.

The shop had gotten the car ALL fixed except for the airbags. Because the airbags are on a Canadian car they are different then American. They are also twice as much!

The difference pushed us over our cars wreckage limit.

So Dave and I on a mission to find a car.

We have had a rental for a month now and are at the end of the insurance coverage period.

Dave and I continued the rental. We have been driving a PT Cruiser. I think they are kind of an ugly car but the interior is really nice. I like the space in it.

So we are starting today to find one or something similar to it. We also found out that we could buy the car from Enterprise. Even the exact one we are driving.

We are going to search today to find different models we like etc today and buying sometime next week.

So thats our mission for today.

wish us luck!

first of 2009

well this is my first post of 2009.

so far it has been a good year.

Dave and I went on vacation to the coast of NC. It was just as cool as at home, but much warmer then my friends in Canada.

Mom and dad just stopped by on their way home from Florida. I gave mom a hat that i knitted to match the scarf I made her for Christmas.

The friends I have hang out with love to do crafts and we get together weekly to knit, crochet etc and chat. WE recently found a store that is changing inventory so we got A LOT of yarn for 50cents a skein. MC is getting me addicted to it i think.
Im working on 2 blankets right now. One is a baby blanket that i stated when i first started working at Shalom (7 years ago!) I haven't worked on it consistently. The other is a blanket that im making out of squares. If I get them done i will post the pics.

here is mom in her hat and scarf. The hat was made as a flat hat and sown together. This was my first time making a hat and i think it turned out well. I'm going to have to try making a hat in the round sometime too :)
