A memory Quilt for Marley

Let me start this post by saying I dont do T-shirt quilts.
I have done memory quilts with flannel pj pants and shirts.

Last summer the sexton of our church passed away. His wife got in contact with my go-to Long Arm Quilter- Pam. Pam then referred her to me as she realized I had a connection. (and gave me a heads up).

When Stephanie contacted me about making her daughter a memory quilt with Donald's t-shirts I was ready to say yes.
I was a bit nervous because they are someones precious memories and I didnt want to mess it up.
After a couple days of cutting the seams off the t-shirts I was ready to start figuring out common sizes i could cut things and how they would all fit together.

I decided to make the different rows different heights and sew them together and have different widths.

I got its sewn together at a quilting sew bee

I sent it to the quilters before I went to my sisters in ottawa for a week.

Here it is finished

A quilt for Lydia

My youngest sister had her second baby on my birthday!! 37 years apart :)

I made this quilt a fair bit bigger than my normal baby quits. The older my kids get the bigger the baby quilts are as I realize how much nicer the larger size is. I didnt get a final measurement on this though

Her older brother Benjamin LOVES this quilt and will likely be using it for a bit first :)

I was able to go visit them when Lydia was 1 month old.

He really loves it

He will be moving into a toddler bed in the next few months and it fits perfectly!!

Curtain for preschool

I was asked by abigials preschool teachers from last year to make a cabinet curtain for them.

I had some half yards of fabric and came up with this.

I used velcro to attach it

Floor Pillows for the kids

So I got this fabric from Ikea last fall. It was black and white and its a thick almost canvas weight to it.

Since then I have been colouring it with fabric markers whenever I had a chance. I set the markers with an iron and in the dryer.
I have had many people help me too like my fellow Quilt Guild members.

I will be giving these to the kids to use as floor pillows. One of them has a pink zipper and one a navy zipper.

So both pillows have almost the same pattern repeat.
oh well :)

 Pillow 1

 Pillow 2

And have another 16 inches left.

I gave them to the kids and they loved exploring the pictures to see who had which ones and what colours they were :)

upcycled dress for Abigail

I decided to try upcycling for the first time.

WE had this t-shirt of abigails that the graphic was coming off.

yuck- right?

so I cut off the top about 1 inch below the armpits

and made a tube of fabric using some remnants I picked up from hancocks.

yay- french seam (I also used a decorative stitch along the bottom hem. )

I thought it needed more- So I grabbed some trim.
+Christina Borrego Buck gave this to me a while ago and I found a good use for it here.

Abigail modeling for me.

because it was just a tube on a t-shirt that was a bit too big on her the back looks a little funny. not sure how to fix it- so  im going to leave it.
