Zeke bedtime and maps

I just heard zeke praying with daddy and he prayed for each member of the tv show Phineas and Ferb.  as well Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear. And ended it with "the end"

We were going to go walk at a walking park that goes in a circle around a pond. Zeke went to his room to get a map (i think of nova scotia) and proceed to map out where we were going and what roads we needed.

Raw Edge Circle Quilt done.

So I made this circle Quilt for Kendra and wanted to do this to it (I saw it on Cluck Cluck Sew) but it was too small for me.

I started by sewing circles onto square backgrounds then cutting them into quarters.

Edit to add: all i did was lay the circle on top of the square and sew about 1/4 inch+ ish in from the edge and just sewed an inch or so, lifted the foot turned the fabric and sewed another inch or so until i was all the way around.

When I cut it into quarters I did take off some of the excess of the background fabric from behind the circle part.

(i pretty much just followed the blog from cluck cluck sew)

The background fabric is a layer cake and the circles are from my stash.

Then I sewed them back together while I was at the quilting retreat and finished off the top.

I then finished it at home a couple days later.

Quilting Retreat Sept 3013

Thanks to Abigail weaning and mostly to +Dave DeBaeremaeker for being so awesome! I was able to go to my quilting guilds bi-annual retreat!

so here are a few photos and below is an album with all of them.

enjoy!

So I left Friday morning about 9:30 am getting to the retreat center at 11 or so. (some construction traffic too)

We stayed up in the mountains near Banner Elk, NC. It was fairly chilly up there when I got there. But it felt so good to sleep with the window open.

We had rooms to stay in and this great room to quilt in.

On Friday night we got to play Strip Poker.
Everyone brought 20 holiday themed strips of fabric.
there was a dice that had:
C-put one in the center
L-pass one to the left
R- pass one to the right
*- take the whole pile
X- skip a turn (there were 2)

(apparently these dice were from a game called Left, Right, Center I think)

We also added that as soon as the center (kitty) was empty everyone put one in.
and then we just played in clockwise order.
Once you were out of strips- you were out.

We also decided that one of the loose a turns should be "take one from center" for the next time we play this. Which should be at our christmas dinner.

This could be used with any strips theme- red, white, blue or florals etc.
^^ Winners ^^

We also had a Challenge for while we were there. Everyone was given the same 10 floral fabrics and had to use all of them in creating something. anything.

Since I was there for such a short time- i created and made something that seemed fastest and easiest to me.

I only used 2.5 inches of the sample bits for my "English Garden" doll quilt. I was only there for one night so I didnt bring much with me so the yellow/beige is one fat quarter as well as the green. the binding I got from someone else.

here is my basket that I made as one of our little projects.
I made the small little basket from the scrap of the big bag. THAT was a pain to make that small.
The doll is a challenge project from someone else.

Zeke's first Day of 3 year old preschool class

the NC school system uses an August date to switch what class you are in for that school year.

Zeke has an October birthday so he would be behind his friends who were born a few months before him but we put him in the same preschool class as them for the 2 and 3 year old classes.

This year we held him back to his proper school year. He can become better friends with the classmates who will be in the same class as him when they start kindergarten.

so this is his first day of 3 Year Old Preschool classes (again).

We got Zeke a couple new shirts to wear for school.
He picked this one out today.

He is showing me the shirt and all the cars.

then we had to get a picture for gramma but Bailey got in the way, but that was it for photos.

Zeke was so excited that he ran to school

and got through the doors before I could get a picture of him at the front door

then he was off to class.

Just a little clingy when I was about to leave.
not because I was leaving but that I wasn't leaving Abigail with him!
