A quilt for the house

I wanted to do a fairly easy fun and done quilt. 

I didnt have a plan for it but decided later it would be for the house and probably for Abigail's bed. 

this was an Elenor Burns Quilt in a day "How charming" pattern. I of course had to edit it. I chose to make it bigger 7x8 blocks instead of 5x7 blocks. 

I chose 3 charm packs i had that looked like they would sorta go together. 

I decided on the green plaid as my background as the charms didnt have much green in them. I was a bit nervous about how it would show up over a big quilt. 

It was looking pretty good. I put the two borders on it and sent it off to be quilted. 

Here it is all done! it turned out great! the preen was perfect!

Zeke got to start Kindergarten this year. 

And Abigail started 3 year old Preschool

She also started Dance class

then started freaking out like something was biting his bum

took off undies and discovered an unwipped bum

then a couple more had bugs

wont go inbecause there is bug eggs on his carpet

i told him if he didnt clean his room he wouldnt get to sew woith me. which would have been happening with me now

instead abigail had to get him undies

Zeke at the Dentist

Zeke went to the dentist today. 

for the first time, I know - it was kinda late but im glad I'm waited because Zeke was very very good and still.

He did soo well! he kept his mouth open the whole time. He wouldn't even close his mouth to swallow. He sat so still for the hygienist but later wouldn't let the dentist look in his mouth.

Brushing with new toothbrush and new jammies (new jammies unrelated to dentist visit and more to do with watching star wars with daddy saturday)

First Day of school 2014

Once again the school year is upon us. 

This year Zeke is in the 5 day 4 year old PreK class at his preschool. 

Abigail starts this year in the 3 day/week 2 year old class at the same preschool. 

I take pictures at the hutch so you can see how they grow year by year.

Zeke started on tuesday and Abigail on wednesday

Zeke actually went to his classroom all by himself while i put Abigail in her room. 

Both did so well, no tears! mommy either :)

martian skins

let me tell you a story that my dad told my son.

See that pond over there?

see all the green stuff in the pond? 

(way more than in this photo as this was taken later)

do you know what that stuff is?

its Martian Skin. 

really, it is. 

Do you know how it got there?

Martians come at night, once they know you are sleeping, and dive into the pond. There they shed a layer of skin which then grows into the algae. 

the Martians then zoom back up to the sky and they go so fast they dry off quickly. 

This story came up because we were cleaning out the pond for my sisters wedding. 

Zeke was a big help 

mom and Melissa pulled it out and then let it dry. this is them cleaning up the dried algae. 

Later we went to visit Dave's parents and went to a local marina for a walk. 

we were walking along and then we hear Zeke exclaim "look! Martian skin"

We tried to get him to think this was a spaceship. 

He just told us its a thing to pick up the martian skin.

so this has become a thing at Pake and Grandmas house. 

but would it last?

We get home from our trip and Zeke sees these guys on Phineas and Ferb

and calls me over and says "mom, those are the martians that left their skin in Pakes pond!

oh, his poor teachers! they will not know what he is talking about!
