May Scavenger Hunt special winner

Over on Google+ there is this amazingly awesome person called Chrysta Rae (go check her out!)
Every few months she puts on a photography scavenger hunt(rules at that link if you want to look). She gives those that signed up 10 items and one month to find them. You cannot go into old picture files- they must be made after the list is given.

over 300 people participated in the last hunt.

One person who was not a judge gave some prizes for Chrysta to give to whomever she wanted for what ever reason in EACH of the categories.

and I won one of them!

This is what she wrote:

Special AWARDS for the May Scavenger Hunt for PINK:

I have chosen +Debbie DeBaeremaeker to receive my special award.
Over the last 4 hunts I have heard many, many reasons why people had to drop out of the scavenger hunt from "my cat is sick" (seriously) to work, to they forgot... etc. etc. And although it never bothers me - as real life always comes first - the people who DO the hunt,  who sign up and PARTICIPATE are the stand-up kinda people I truly appreciate and love.
Now... Debbie did the hunt,
oh yes, she did it...
WHILE full-term pregnant,
then HAD her baby girl, Abigail,
and still FINISHED her hunt.
(this "pink" shot was taken while still in the hospital!
I am more than impressed with you, Debbie.
I sorta have a you-kick-a$$ crush on you. xoxoxox

July's hunt has started! Wish me luck!

Quilt Guild Summer Supper

This is my first year with this Quilt Guild.
They have an annual Salad Supper that I got to attend this year.

 it involves eating

 and socializing

 This year they did a Challenge Quilt. I have done one too but that you can read over here.
The quilt was to be based on a Memory and have a bunch of other requirements.

I have all the pictures of the quilts and more of the dinner below in a slide show. You can click on the pictures to see them all.

Here are the winners!

Unfortunately Abigail was crying while people were reading their stories that go with the quilts so I have no idea what the stories are behind these quilts

I look forward to going again next year.

I guess no one remembers to take photos of the guild when they have get togethers so I was glad I had my tripod (thanks Dave!) with me and able to take a group shot.

all the quilts can be seen here:

Happy Birthday Debbie!

Dave, I love your answer!

For my birthday, I love more than anything to have dinner with my brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, and my parents in San Antonio, TX. But now that I live away in North Carolina, I love to chat with them over the phone throughout the day and dinner with my hubby.

I hope I win. I'd love to start on a new hobby/ project ;)

Box of Awesomeness!

I got some wonderful mail today!!

So exciting!

First in the envelope was a surprise!
Dave got me these lovely black and white jelly roll (although its 20 strips) and it came with 2 free patterns.
I hinted to him that if he didnt want to get me flowers he could get me some this ways and sent him an ebay link to this.
Isn't he sweet?

Next up was the box. I got this from babyhiest.com
(its a deal a day site and once in a while they have a random box. The best way to find out is to follow them on facebook. They are in Canada so they try to get a lot of Canadian stuff.)
It was a "Box of Awesomeness." I spent $50 for a box of stuff I didnt know what I would receive. I gave them a few hints with the age of my son, size and gender etc.
2 Melissa and Doug puzzles (one farm animals and babies and one jungle animals and babies)
Melissa and Doug farm Sound Blocks
D&K monkey hat
Snack Trap
goo goo baby reversible cuddle blanket
ambulance baby spoon

Im so excited for all this stuff! Zeke loves to play with his friends animal sound blocks and peg puzzles.
And those snack traps look great and I didnt have any!

I had won a baby photo contest from their Facebook Page.
I entered this photo (below) and won for  UNIQUE USE OF A HEIST and received a tie and Snack Trap

Winner again!

Wow!
I love entering giveaways AND winning them!

At Cut to Pieces Angela was having a Fabric Diet. It started in January for 8 weeks.
For each week that you didnt buy fabric you could have an entry into her giveaway. I managed to have 6 weeks of no fabric buying. (one week I had to get more fabric for Dave's moms quilt and another was an insane sale.)
You also got another entry that was open to everyone.

And I won!!
She had 4 prizes and I was the first one!!

I won a jelly roll of Sherbet Pips!

This is a new line of fabric that is very sought after (from what I understand)

look at those cute scarves and doggie and scooters!

Thank you so much Angela!!

This is pretty cool!

Heather over at H'sCreations has nominated me for the Liebster Blog Award!

Thank you for thinking Im a "wonderful quilter."
I dont like following patterns but do enjoy making my own up.

Now onto the rules of the Liebster Award.

1) If you are tagged, and you want to accept, then create a post on your blog and add the Liebster blog pic.
2) Link back to the person who gave you the award and say if you accept.
3) Choose 3-5 of your favourite blogs to tag, link these in your post too and tell the lucky people they have been tagged.The aim of this award is to bring unknown good blogs to light, (less than 100 Followers is ideal), therefore, please don't tag somebody with 3000 followers!

I am accepting this award.
Thank you again, Heather!
And I am nominating the following blogs:

A Life Without Ice Cream - Steph and I went to the same High School. Sheis a food blogger and enjoys making her own recipes. They all sound great! Im going to have to try her chinese food ones soon.

For the Journey - I met Dallas when we were both in Belgium (husbands on work trip.) She has since moved twice and now has a cute daughter. She is also a quilter but that has been put on hold for a bit :)

Southern Disposition  - Kendra used to work with my husband. She has a wonderful blog and a very creative mind! I love the ideas she comes up with. Check out one of her Errant Thought Round Ups. Every time I do it makes me think of my own to put in.

The Art of Being Lost -  Kendra has introduced me to Lacy's photography. I love her take on common and not common things.

Congratulations ladies!

Happy Mail

I got some happy mail yesterday!

Do you remember the Traveling Stash giveaway that I won?

It arrived yesterday!
 I could hardly wait to open it. Zeke was helping me.
 I needed to put Zeke in his highchair with a banana so I could go though the whole box.

a whole stack of Hawaiian prints

So I think I will keep the below stuff:
Dave wanted me to keep the moose and the monkeys (I was leaning towards the monkeys anyway)
I discovered I didnt have much pink- so I grabbed those.
I LOVE the light blue with the birds. They are calling to be fussy cut somehow!

So now to go though my own stash and see what I have.

Expect the giveaway sometime this week!

I won!!!!!!!

I won!!! I am so excited!

Actually I have won 2 things.

One thing came in the mail today and one thing was an email.

First - the thing I won today.
I entered a give a way at the Plaid Scottie
She asked for advice on buying an new house (as well as normal ways of getting entries)

This was what I saw on her page. The quote is below.

Item #4: Last Minute Patchwork & Quilted Gifts

Comment #504 from Debbie:
"The very first home that my parents bought didn't have a drain in the kitchen sink. They didn't know that when they bought it (just a bucket under the sink), so since then my grandmother's wisdom to buying a house is to look under the sinks!"

Isnt that exciting!!

That is the book that I looked at and Deborah bought for me. I then gave it back to her since I never paid her back. She said she was happy to have the book- and now I will have my own copy!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The other thing I won was from the blog Such Sweet Tierney.
This is what came in the mail today:
"Mara May's sweet paper garlands are the perfect detail for any season. Last Christmas I hung one on the mantle with the stockings! So cute! This is for the nature one pictured above and has pretty greens and lots of book paper!"
Isnt that sweet? I look forward to using it. Im just not sure where yet. If you have any ideas- let me know.
