when we travel we keep a box of toys for Zeke to play with. in the box we have a bag for cars and books and other small toys.

The baggie that we kept the books in was getting a bit ratty so I decided to make one for myself.

I need a bit of help

a friend in my Sunday School class was diagnosed with breast cancer and I want to make a quilt for her.
any suggestions?
Im thinking a prayer/healing signature type quilt where I get people from our class to write encouraging word on a piece of fabric and I quilt it.

is there a pen/fabric combo that works?
a pattern that lends itself to this?

Amanda's Apron

When I was in Canada I bought some cheap fabric to make a quilt.
You can read all about that adventure here

My sister came over for a visit and was asking me if I thought I could make an apron for her.
She wanted one that would fit her plus sized figure AND cover her boobs.

I have never made one and I told her so.

She was ok with my lack of experience.
we had just one problem.

it was sunday and I didnt know about any local fabric places let alone if they were open.

luckily for her I had bought some fabric for the previously mentioned quilt AND she liked it.

The next step she showed me some of the ones she saw online that she liked.

I cant do that!

Well maybe.... something like that.....

SO we started thinking and I started cutting.

I did no measurements.

I held pieces up to her and asked do you like this here or there, this long or that long.

She wanted a pleated front, with a rounded bottom and a sorta gathered top

holding it up to see if it would work

Details:
darts in the top
Apron strings
Sweet little bow
Rounded bottom.
that a wrap

Hope she gets a lot of use out of it :)

Zekes first day of 3 year old class Preschool

Monday was Zeke's first day of preschool this year. His class has been in session for 3 weeks but we were in Canada.

This is his second year at School for Young Children and he is in the 3 year old class.

It was much easier than trying to get him to go to school last year :)

I wanted a picture by the hutch so I can look back at him growing- but he wouldnt cooperate!

Holding my had to cross the parking lot
now on the sidewalk he can run
 Big helper

 next door
ok- so he stopped and cried once we got to his door. but his two buddies Ethan (at back) and Sean (blue shirt) were very excited to see him and soon he was playing.
So mommy made good her escape and went to pick up our puppy from the dog sitters.

Welcome back routine. I do like you.

Amy's Baby quilt

Amy is a good friend from when we lived in Toronto.
When I heard she was pregnant I HAD to make her a quilt.

THEN I discovered that we were going to be in Canada for her due date! how awesome is that? I was unable to get to her wedding but I was able to see her brand new baby!

She did not find out the sex of her baby but was decorating her nursery in "Noah's Ark"
I immediately thought of my Noah's Ark quilt I had done before

I wanted to do something a bit more patchwork-y for Amy so I found some fabric and cut them into 5" squares.

I had some fun Bible fabric rom our trip to Phenix AZ that I hadnt used yet. I didnt fussy cut- but I think i should have! oh well- I have leftovers :)

Daniel and the Lions Den and Joseph and his Coat of Many Colours
David and Goliath
 Adam and Eve
 Moses parting the Red Sea
 Jonah and the Whale

The back pannel
 the patchwork.
I thought the dark squares would just out a lot but it turns out I see the green first.

 signed and fancy stitches

 inside has better colours

"oopps- the corner is turned over, here  let me fix that for you"
"thanks Zeke- want to get your picture taken with it?"

So Amy had her baby on Aug 23 and named her Ella
We got to see her one week later!

Zeke was very good to her (we should have gotten a picture of her with Abby!)
